Slave sale charges at Petersburg, Va., 1850 September 5.

The document gives purchase prices for "Maria" ($650) and "Randolph" ($777.50), purchasers' names, charges for advertising and the auctioneer's commission. A discount is given for a cash purchase and the settlement is computed. Four spots of wax mark where the original advertisement may have been affixed. One of the purchasers, R.R. Collier, may possibly be Robert Ruffin Collier, a University of Virginia alumnus, lawyer, state senator and resident of Petersburg.
